It originally opened on December 7, 1889 at the Savoy Theatre. Its lilting score has, perhaps, the most sparkling and tuneful music of them all. To summarize: Two just-married Venetian gondoliers Marco and Giuseppe are informed by the Grand Inquisitor that one of them is in fact the King of “Barataria:, but only their foster mother, presently at large, knows which one. As Barataria needs a king to put down unrest in the country, they travel there to reign jointly, leaving their Contadine brides behind in Venice until the mystery is elucidated. As it turns out, the Baratarian King was wed in infancy to the beautiful Casilda, daughter of the Spanish Duke of Plaza Toro, and so it seems he is an unintentional bigamist. Of course, the beautiful daughter is in love with a common servant! When the young Spaniard and the two Venetian wives all show up wanting to know which of them is queen, complications arise. No worries: The true identity of the kind is revealed, and all ends spectacularly well. 2006 Cast Casilda: Yanick Alexandre Duchess: Heather Baragar (Dael Foster) Gianetta: Emily Forsyth Tessa: Susan Yule Vittoria: Skye Bloomer Giulia: Elena Cerrolaza Fiametta: Barbara Heath Annibale: Erik Blair Duke of Plazatoro: Peter Blair Giorgio: Gilbert Hymer Antonio: Marco: Rodrigo Monardes Don Alhambra: Richard Orlando Luiz: Richard Ouellette Francesco: Jonathan Rose Giuseppe: Terence Wojnowski Inez: Carol Brodkin-Sang Brides: Toni-Andrea Belschner, Skye Bloomer, Carol Brodkin-Sang, Elena Cerrolaza, Dael Foster, Sue Germinario, Linda-Anne Malenfant, Catherine Pycock, Corinne Verpoorten Gondoliers: Erik Blair, Brian Foran, Gilbert Hymer, Andy Macdougall, Jonathan Rose, Bruce Thicke,
