MW Operatic Society is proud to announce its very successful run of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, during May at the D.B. Clarke Theatre of Concordia University. The superior technical facilities and acoustics, and more intimate theatre space were greatly appreciated by the audience and performers. This new venue for MWOS has proven to be a popular choice.

Anita of Pointe Claire, Margaret and Susan both from Montreal, joined MWOS in 1977. All three have played a major role in the development of the Society. Affectionately known as the "Three Little Maids", after the dainty trio in the Mikado, these ladies all lead very busy lives but nevertheless have spent countless hours helping present the joyful comic operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan.
Anita Hayes is one of the most accomplished performers in MWOS history, having played almost every lead contralto role in the Gilbert & Sullivan canon. In 1997 she was named Best Supporting Actress at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Philadelphia ... After 24 consecutive years playing principal roles with MWOS, Anita takes on a new challenge this season in her new position as Assistant Director ...
Margaret Quinlan, mother of four and grandmother of six, has held many positions on the Board of Directors of MWOS, including President, Vice-President, Producer and Secretary. She is also a soprano chorister in the company. About to celebrate her 40th wedding anniversary, Margaret is currently chairperson of the Music Committee ...
Susan Germinario, mother of two teenage children and a scientist, ... was president of the Society for five years and, like Margaret Quinlan, has held several other positions on the Board of Directors. Her lovely soprano voice has always enhanced the women's chorus ...


MWOS: Carolling nets $1,450
The Informer, [December, 2001]

MW Operatic Society, currently rehearsing for The Pirates of Penzance, recently went on their annual carol singing event in the streets of Montreal West. Whilst some members sang Christmas favorites and stopped at lamp-posts for much-needed light, other members went door-to-door collecting money for The Montreal Children's Hospital.
By journey's end at the Town Hall, with mulled wine to warm frozen fingers and toes, $1,450 had been raised...
